Pipeline Anatomy
Build, unit test, SAST, containerize, deploy to staging, smoke test, promote to production. GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps orchestrate; artifacts are immutable; secrets never live in YAML.
Zero-Downtime Releases
Blue-green or rolling updates with health gates beat big-bang deploys. Database migrations run backward-compatible first; feature flags decouple deploy from release.
Infrastructure as Code
Terraform or Bicep modules version networks, databases, and IAM. Drift detection weekly; manual console clicks are tech debt with interest.
Observability
Structured logs (Serilog), metrics (Prometheus or CloudWatch), traces (OpenTelemetry), and SLO-based alerts. If you cannot answer "what broke and for whom?" in five minutes, you are flying blind.
